
A child, believed to be about 7 years old, was killed Thursday in Houston’s South Park neighborhood after being struck by a vehicle on the 5200 block of Willow Glen Drive shortly after 11:30 a.m. Houston Fire Department crews and police responded, but the child was pronounced dead at the scene. Sections of the street were closed while authorities investigated the incident, which remains under active review.
KHOU reported that the vehicle involved remained at the scene, and first responders found the child in the roadway upon arrival. Authorities continued processing the scene throughout the day, and the victim was estimated to be about 7 years old.

The Houston Fire Department told the Houston Chronicle that crews arrived at around 11:34 a.m. and pronounced the child dead about five minutes later. The crash occurred on the 5200 block of Willow Glen Drive near Herschelwood Street.
