Tragedy struck the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood in Southeast Portland this past Sunday when an early morning shooting left one dead and two hospitalized with gunshot wounds. The Portland Police Bureau reported that they responded to a distress call at a residence near Southeast 125th Avenue and Southeast Division Street at approximately 6:34 AM yesterday, where officers discovered the three victims.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officials provided trauma first aid before paramedics rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals, and despite medical efforts, one individual succumbed to their injuries; the shooting also resulted in a fourth person sustaining a minor injury, but they did not require hospitalization. In a chaotic unfolding of events that morning, the suspect or suspects involved had fled the scene before police could apprehend anyone, leaving the authorities with no immediate arrests.
