
Spelman College received a $38 million donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. The unrestricted gift will be used to expand financial aid and upgrade technology at the Atlanta college, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Spelman College received a large, unrestricted donation from Scott. Spelman Interim President Rosalind Brewer said, "This investment is a powerful affirmation of our mission and our commitment to educational excellence and equity," as reported by Rough Draft Atlanta. The donation will allow the college to improve the student experience and technology.
Billionaire MacKenzie Scott, who donated $20 million to Spelman College in 2020 for scholarships and the endowment, has made another major contribution to the school. Rosalind Brewer said, "The flexibility of this gift allows us to move more swiftly to strengthen the entire student experience, modernize our technology infrastructure, and expand financial opportunity for scholars who call Spelman home," as mentioned by FOX 5 Atlanta. The donation will help Spelman provide students from different economic backgrounds with a resource-rich education.
