The Spencer Police Department, working with the Western Worcester County Major Crimes & Narcotics Task Force, has arrested a man connected to an attempted fraud scheme. According to a department social media post, the individual, identified as Fusheng Huang from Fresh Meadows, New York, was impersonating both a government and bank official. Huang was apprehended while attempting to collect $30,000 from a Spencer resident, marking the second time the victim had been targeted in this scam.

Spencer detectives and officers intercepted Huang before he could take additional funds. The victim had previously been targeted in an earlier incident. Law enforcement’s investigation led to the suspect’s arrest. Fusheng Huang has been charged with Attempted Larceny by Single Scheme and Conspiracy by the Spencer Police Department. In a statement, officials reminded the public that no legitimate government agency or financial institution will request cash or personal information by phone or email and advised verifying any such requests before taking action.

The police have provided resources for residents to learn about or report instances of fraud, including a link to their website in the department’s post. Law enforcement emphasizes public awareness and caution as scams become more common. The department also noted that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Additional information about the case is available on the official Spencer Police Department Facebook page.
