A tragic hit-and-run incident took the life of Marquis Lane Wesley, 57, last Friday evening in the area of Goodfellow and Greer. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, District 5 officers received the call at approximately 5:45PM and upon arrival, found Wesley unconscious in the street having been struck by a vehicle, emergency services were quick to rush him to a hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses at the scene attempted to come to Wesley's aid, but their efforts were rendered futile when a tan pickup truck, driving across Goodfellow Avenue, hit him and fled without stopping; this detail, among others surrounding the unfortunate event, emerged from the preliminary investigation carried out by the Accident Reconstruction Unit. The police are currently seeking information and have urged anyone who can assist to reach out to the District 5 Detective Bureau at 314-444-0001, or to remain anonymous, contact CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS (8477), where information leading to a felony arrest could result in a reward.
