
The City of St. Louis has launched the City Food Insecurity Fund to address hunger among its residents. According to a recent social media post by the city, one in five residents depends on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The city emphasized its commitment to addressing this issue.
St. Louis officials have called on the community to help address food insecurity. Local food pantries, which often supplement SNAP benefits, are currently serving as the primary support for many residents, including children at risk of going hungry. The city acknowledged and thanked partners working together to provide a centralized platform for donations.
The City Food Insecurity Fund was created to address the growing issue of food insecurity in the St. Louis area. The city stated in a Facebook post, "In normal times, our local food pantries fill in the gaps when SNAP money runs out, now they are the only safety net."
