The City of Lewisville Public Library is tapping into the power of personal narratives through a partnership with StoryCorps, inviting residents from the DFW area to chronicle their tales, both monumental and minute. According to a recent announcement on Lewisville's official website, the StoryCorps Mobile Tour will be stationed at the Lewisville Public Library, 1197 W. Main Street, from December 5 to 8.

Dedicated to archiving the mosaic of American life, StoryCorps will provide the gear and guidance necessary to capture stories, whether about personal heritage or defining life moments. With slots on the 5th, 6th, and 8th available, those looking to share must book in advance. For securing a session, they should visit the library's website or direct their queries to the Adult Services Desk at 972.219.3779.

Contributors to the archive will not only walk away with a digital copy of their session but will also be presented with the opportunity to become part of the collective memory by adding their recording to the StoryCorps digital archive at the Library of Congress's American Folklife Center. As stated on Lewisville's news post, StoryCorps is on a mission "to help us believe in each other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in us all — one story at a time."

The library is also hosting a free "Preserving Stories Workshop" on Saturday, Dec. 6, inviting the public to learn about StoryCorps' tools for personal and family history archiving. Scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon, the event does not require prior registration and will take place in the Bennett Program Room on the first floor.
