
The Honolulu Fire Department conducted a rescue operation for a trio of hikers stranded along the Pali Notches Trail in Kailua. The distress call, which came at around 3:29 p.m. on Thursday, prompted a response from 18 personnel across 6 HFD units, as confirmed in a recent report by HFD. Upon receiving the call, the first responders swiftly reached the scene by 3:45 p.m. and began their ascent to locate the hikers.
An adult male in his 40s and two teenagers were stranded on the trail and unable to descend without help. A second unit secured a nearby landing zone for the air rescue.
Air 1 helped rescue personnel reach the stranded hikers efficiently. They were located around 5:19 p.m. and found uninjured. The hikers were safely escorted to a nearby landing zone.
Air 1 airlifted the hikers to the Nuuanu Reservoir landing zone by 10:35 p.m. The hikers declined medical care. All rescue personnel returned safely, with no injuries reported.
