A somber discovery at a North Shore suburb has jarred the local community, as Suffolk County police located the body of a man they believe was murdered near the upscale Stony Brook Yacht Club, as first reported by the New York Post. The victim, identified as 52-year-old Christopher Millwater of Selden, was found in a parking lot commonly used by several marinas and a town boat ramp at around 3:40 a.m. yesterday, with injuries suggesting he had been the "victim of violence."
While details of the incident remain scarce, authorities have initiated a homicide investigation, following the discovery of Millwater's body in proximity to noticeably lavish surroundings, where crime is not characteristic of the area and this led to a palpable tension simmering within the precincts of the North Shore's quietude, this according to News 12 Long Island. The scene of the crime, detailed by the same source, became the ground zero of the investigation as homicide detectives concentrated their efforts around a Porsche parked near the discovery site.
Millwater was urgently transported to Stony Brook University Hospital as officials were summoned to the chilling episode that unfolded on Shore Road; however, his life had been ceded to the trauma by the time it was pronounced by the medics. While the nature of the violence meted out upon him has been guarded by the investigators, the police have assured that details will be shared when appropriate.
The unexpected nature of the incident has been met with disbelief among the residents; Christian Kollar, a local inhabitant, expressed his dismay to News 12 Long Island, stating, "That doesn’t happen around here, there’s hardly any crime or violence. That’s why I moved here. So it’s very surprising and shocking."
