A suspect has been arrested in relation to a deadly stabbing that shook the Northwest community in September. The Metropolitan Police Department reports the incident occurred on September 13, 2025, around 3:48 a.m., when Third District officers were called to the 2000 block of 14th Street, Northwest, after receiving reports of a stabbing.
Upon their arrival, police found Jermaine Foster Jr., 34, from Northwest, DC, suffering from stab wounds. Unconscious yet still breathing, he was quickly transported to a hospital by DC Fire and EMS, where, despite extensive efforts to save his life, Foster was pronounced dead.
The investigation suggested that the stabbing ensued during a large altercation wherein three other individuals sustained minor injuries and sought medical attention on their own accord. After an intensive search spanning a couple of months, the authorities apprehended 49-year-old Shawn Lamar Conway, as detailed by MPD's announcement of the arrest on November 20, 2025.
Conway, a resident of Oxon Hill, Maryland, was arrested in Suitland, Maryland, by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. Charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed, he was subsequently taken to the MPD Homicide Branch. The death of Foster marks yet another tragic loss in a city grappling with the consequences of violence in its streets.
