
Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred early on Sunday in Southeast D.C. Officers responding to the 3000 block of P Street Southeast found 56-year-old Richard Walker unconscious with a gunshot wound, and he was later pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as 51-year-old Shawnta Aiken of Southeast D.C., who was detained at the scene. Aiken has been charged with second-degree murder while armed, and investigators believe the incident was domestic in nature, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Sixth District Officers arrested Aiken at the scene, and detectives later charged her in connection with Walker’s fatal shooting. Police have not released details about what led to the incident or the relationship between the two.
