A man was detained late last night by Huntington Beach Police in relation to a fatal shooting incident that occurred Sunday afternoon, as reported by CBS News Los Angeles. According to official reports, the Huntington Beach Police Department responded to gunshots at around 2:26 p.m. near Ash Lane and Mandrell Drive, where they discovered a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds.
The individual was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced deceased, and while his identity has not been disclosed, pending the notification of his family. During the subsequent investigation and with the help of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Coroner Division and Crime Lab, Luis Angel Mireles, 28, of Santa Ana, became a suspect in the case. Detectives contacted him late at night in Santa Ana, then, based on interviews and evidence from the crime scene, he was apprehended shortly thereafter.
In an update shared on Instagram, the Huntington Beach Police Department indicated that after an in-depth inquiry by their Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigations Bureau, Mireles was booked on charges of murder and violation of probation under Penal Codes 187(a) and 1203.2, though details leading to the violation of his probation were not made public.
The investigation into this somber incident remains active and while no additional details are released as of now, authorities call upon anyone with information to step forward and assist in bringing clarity and justice to the events that transpired.
