
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) has made significant headway in a homicide investigation, resulting in the apprehension of two suspects believed to be connected to a recent crime. The update, reported by CMPD, comes as a development in an ongoing investigation which has been closely followed by local community members demanding justice.
In their continued efforts to thoroughly piece together the sequence of events, CMPD detectives were able to not just identify but also obtain warrants for two individuals. On Monday, a 17-year-old male juvenile was arrested by the CMPD’s Juvenile Accountability and Diversion Empowerment (JADE) team. Following this, 25-year-old Zantavious Dondrell Walker turned himself in to authorities the next day. As detailed in a CMPD news release, both arrests took place without incident.
After taking both suspects into custody, they were subjected to interviews by homicide detectives at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC). The specifics of these conversations have not been made public, but the outcome has led to both individuals now facing serious charges. According to the CMPD announcement, the suspects were charged with murder, felony conspiracy, and shooting into an occupied dwelling, marking a pivotal juncture in this high-profile case.
