Last Thursday, Vallejo, known for its waterfront and maritime history, became the backdrop for a less picturesque scene when two suspects allegedly stole armfuls of jackets worth over $1,700 from a store on Plaza Drive. The escalation from theft to a broader community concern was quickly mitigated by swift police work, resulting in the arrest of the suspects, according the a report from the Vallejo Police Department via social media.
The events unfolded rapidly as a witness in the parking lot saw the suspects leaving in a matte black Dodge Charger, providing police officers with a license plate number and a photograph of the getaway car. The police swiftly identified and located the vehicle later the same day, as it cruised on Sonoma Boulevard near Florida Street. Officers not only retrieved the stolen jackets, but one suspect was found with a suspended driver's license and $45,000 in outstanding warrants, while the other admitted to the theft after Miranda Rights were administered.
Both suspects, one hailing from Stockton, were arrested, with charges including grand theft, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy leveled against them.
