A 17-year-old from Syosset has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old West Babylon resident at a house party. The identity of the charged teen is being withheld due to legal protections for minors. The accused is scheduled for arraignment today at the First District Court in Central Islip, ABC7NY reports.
Around 100 teenagers attended a party at 813 Carlton Road last Monday, where an altercation occurred just before 10:30 p.m., resulting in the stabbing of 15-year-old Liam Delemo, according to News 12 Long Island. Delemo was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Following the incident, 70-year-old homeowner Bonnie Miranda has been charged with violating Suffolk County’s Social Host Law and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Authorities allege that Miranda permitted the party where the fatal stabbing occurred.
Michael Delemo, the father of the victim, has publicly urged anyone who was at the party to come forward with information about the incident. “This whole if I tell on somebody I'm a rat and all this other stuff that goes out the window, my son's dead.” He also recounted his final conversation with his son, saying, “I always tell same thing, 'be careful' and he said 'I will' and of course I told him I loved him,” as per ABC7NY.
