The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida announced that Denzel Ingram, a 28-year-old resident of Tampa, has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison for possessing firearms as a convicted felon. U.S. District Judge Charlene Honeywell also ordered the forfeiture of the firearms involved.

During a traffic stop attempt by a Tampa Police Department officer, Denzel Ingram evaded law enforcement, leading to a pursuit. Following the incident, two loaded handguns were recovered. Ingram, who has a prior felony record including aggravated assault, is legally prohibited from possessing firearms. He entered a guilty plea on August 6, according to a press release.

The FBI and the Tampa Police Department collaborated on the investigation that led to Ingram’s prosecution. The case was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Jeff Chang. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration and targeting cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
