
A teenage suspect has been taken into custody in connection with a violent carjacking on Rhode Island Avenue, announced the Metropolitan Police Department. The incident, which played out in broad daylight, led to a victim being seriously injured after being dragged several blocks by the stolen vehicle.
The carjacking occurred early in the morning on June 7th, when the victim had stopped in the 1100 block of Rhode Island Avenue Northwest; it was then the suspect seized the opportunity, jumping into the driver's seat and attempting to make a getaway and in a frightening turn of events, the vehicle's rightful owner made a desperate attempt to reclaim control but ended up being dragged down the street, according to a report by MPD.
Following a thorough investigation, police action resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old female from Silver Spring, Maryland, on Thursday, November 6th. The suspect is facing multiple charges, including Carjacking, Reckless Driving, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Receiving Stolen Property, and leaving the scene After Colliding, as detailed by the Metropolitan Police Department's official release.
