An alleged violent incident at Towson Town Center last Saturday night resulted in four juveniles being apprehended and a teenager being charged as an adult with attempted murder. According to WBAL-TV, the assault occurred inside the mall, leaving a teen victim with lacerations after one of the assailants reportedly wielded a screwdriver. The Baltimore County police rapidly responded to the scene at around 8 p.m., subsequently conducted the arrests near the intersection of Dulaney Valley Road and Fairmount Avenue, and recovered stolen items in the process.
The incident notably took place on the second floor of the shopping center, in the vicinity of a shoe store, and the investigation led police to recover the aforementioned stolen goods. Three of the detained teenagers were released to their parents, but the fourth, charged as an adult, remains held at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
Juvenile crime has been a burgeoning topic in the Baltimore area, with an alarming escalation seen between 2023 and 2024. Baltimore County has experienced an increase in juvenile crime arrests by 146% as State's Attorney Ivan Bates shared with CBS News Baltimore last year. However, data suggests that in Towson, the trend in crime is on a downward slope, and theft remains the most prevalent offense.
