A teenage girl was hospitalized after she was hit by a vehicle near Olympia High School in Orange County. According to WESH, the incident occurred today, with the Florida Highway Patrol pointing to a possible medical episode the driver may have suffered as the cause.
The victim was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, listed as a trauma alert patient, but is now in stable condition. Initially, the event was categorized as a hit-and-run, but it later emerged that the driver might have been compromised medically at the time of the crash.
The crash site was identified as South Apopka Vineland Road near Conroy Windermere Road. Orange County Fire Rescue Department was responsible for transporting the adolescent female to the hospital, as they communicated. Meanwhile, the driver was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital.
