Seattle's Rainier Vista neighborhood witnessed alarming violence Tuesday evening when a 17-year-old boy was found with serious gunshot wounds. The incident unfolded at around 7:10 p.m. near 30th Avenue South and South Adams Street, with local residents hearing the distressing sound of gunfire which prompted urgent calls to dispatch, the Seattle Police Department reported.
Responding promptly, the officers encountered the wounded teenager and, according to a statement from the Seattle Police Department Blotter, provided immediate medical assistance. Seattle Fire Department medics took over care, swiftly transporting the victim to Harborview Medical Center where he remains in serious condition, but stable enough, for police to place him under hospital arrest for unrelated robbery charges.
In a twist to the already complex situation, detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) in conjunction with the Robbery Unit discovered the teen was wanted for an unrelated robbery case. As a result, he was subsequently placed into custody, even as he lay in his hospital bed recovering from the life-threatening injuries sustained in the shooting, as per the Seattle Police Department.
