Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a $41.5 million settlement with pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Tris Pharma. The agreement resolves allegations that the companies provided adulterated ADHD medication to children in Texas, including those covered by Medicaid, according to a statement from the Attorney General’s Office.

Attorney General Paxton stated that his office accused Pfizer and Tris Pharma of altering test results for the ADHD medication Quillivant XR to meet regulatory requirements and qualify for Medicaid reimbursement. The alleged actions were in violation of the Texas Health Care Program Fraud Prevention Act.

The allegations relate to incidents between 2012 and 2018, during which Quillivant XR reportedly failed quality control tests due to manufacturing issues. Despite these failures, the medication continued to be distributed, in violation of federal and state laws. Under the settlement, Pfizer and Tris Pharma have agreed to comply with all applicable regulations governing drug manufacturing and distribution.
