In a significant development surfacing out of Texas, two law enforcement officers have been arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse. The Dallas Police Department announced the arrest following a cyber tip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to the Dallas Police Department, the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force initiated investigations that led to the apprehension of the two suspects.
The accused officers are identified as 34-year-old Skylar Laza, a Houston County Sheriff's Office Deputy, and 29-year-old Kenan Laza, who serves as a Gladewater Police Officer. It was uncovered that the suspects had allegedly sexually assaulted a child on multiple occasions. The release stated that the suspects and the victim were known to each other, providing a disturbing glimpse into how such crimes can take place within circles of trust.
Skylar Laza faced immediate legal consequences as he was arrested in Palestine, Texas, on Wednesday, and subsequently charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child—a first-degree felony. Furthermore, on the following day, he received a federal indictment for the Production of Child Pornography. His brother, Kenan Laza, was arrested in Longview, Texas, a day later and faces charges of Indecency with a Child Exposure, classified as a third-degree felony.
