
The Portland Police Bureau reported a third arrest in connection with the March 2022 homicide of 39-year-old Mohamed Shaani. Yesterday, 41-year-old Shaperryia L. Lambert was taken into custody in Northeast Portland by detectives, with support from the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT). Lambert has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center, according to the City of Portland.
Earlier in the investigation, a second suspect, 41-year-old Kaesha Green, was arrested on November 5, by Portland Police Bureau homicide detectives with assistance from the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team. Green was charged with second-degree murder and is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center. The PPB continues to investigate the case and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
The first arrest in the case occurred on October 22, when 28-year-old Justin Ortega-Mejia was taken into custody by officers from the Portland Police Bureau’s East Precinct. Ortega-Mejia was charged with second-degree murder and is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center. The family of the victim has been notified following each arrest as the investigation continues.
The shooting that resulted in Mohamed Shaani’s death occurred on March 27, 2022, near Northeast Milton Street and Northeast 82nd Avenue in Portland’s Madison South neighborhood. Despite efforts by responding officers and paramedics, Shaani succumbed to his injuries. The Portland Police Bureau Homicide Unit has been leading the investigation and is asking the public to provide any information that could assist, offering contact details for the detectives handling the case.
