Three individuals have been arrested in Mesquite following a home invasion and shooting incident that provoked a police response earlier this month. Among those arrested is 19-year-old Jerimiah John McCombs, as confirmed by the Mesquite Police Department via a KTNV report. He has been charged with home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, obstruction, and conspiracy to discharge a firearm, and was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, according to FOX5 Vegas.
The events unfolded late at night on Nov. 5 when officers responded to the 200 block of Riverside Road after receiving reports of gunfire around 11:45 p.m. Authorities say they heard gunshots upon arriving at an apartment nearby. Investigations revealed that both a residential window and the rear window of a parked car received multiple gunshots, with the latter appearing to have been deliberately targeted, as per a report by KTNV. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the aftermath of the shooting.
Witnesses described seeing two males clad in dark clothing near the Summer Wind Apartments, leading to a pursuit by police. A total of three suspects were spotted on Riverside Road by authorities, including the two juveniles, who have not been identified due to their age. On trying to make contact, all three fled, prompting a chase that concluded with their arrests. In addition to McCombs, the juveniles are facing related charges, which are yet to be specified.
During the chase, police discovered a handgun that had been discarded along the foot pursuit path. According to police statements, McCombs was found in possession of ammunition and was also wanted on an active arrest warrant. These additional details shed light on a night that saw law enforcement act swiftly in the face of a volatile and dangerous situation.
