Three juvenile subjects are now in custody following a carjacking incident that evolved into a police chase in Roseville, Michigan. The Roseville Police Department first became aware of the individuals' suspicious behavior near Gratiot Avenue and Masonic Boulevard at approximately 1:30 p.m. yesterday, according to CBS News Detroit. Roughly thirty minutes later, a report came in about a vehicle carjacked from a nearby restaurant parking lot.

ClickOnDetroit details that the suspects approached two women, one aged 67, outside the restaurant, where at least one of the teens brandished an edged weapon and demanded the keys to the woman's vehicle. The juvenile culprits then fled in the stolen car, which was swiftly spotted by law enforcement on northbound Gratiot Avenue near the I-94 ramps.

The pursuit concluded when the stolen vehicle collided with another car at an exit from Sam's Club on Gratiot Avenue, FOX 2 Detroit reports. The impact did not injure the other driver. Following the crash, the suspected car thief fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by Roseville Police officers. The two other suspects attempted to evade capture; one was caught shortly after in nearby woods, and the other made his way into a Sam's Club, which was, in turn, quickly secured by police forces.

Subsequently, officers conducted a search of the store and located the final suspect hiding in the men's restroom, reports CBS News Detroit. The juvenile was taken into custody without further incident. As of now, all three juveniles have been lodged at the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center, where they await charges, furthering the legacies of shattered glass and splintered lives that too often mark the jagged path of youth veering off into the brambles of criminality.
