
Two men from New York and a woman from Rhode Island have been arrested in connection with an alleged robbery that exploited a car crash in Burbank, California. According to CBS News Los Angeles, the incident took place last weekend when the suspects reportedly targeted victims of a two-car collision.
The Burbank Police Department responded to the site of the crash at the intersection of Third Street and Delaware Road shortly before 10:45 p.m. on November 16. The victims, who had just exited their vehicles due to the collision, were approached by two men. The suspects engaged the victims in a conversation before attempting to forcibly remove a gold necklace from one of them, sparking a physical altercation. The perpetrators subsequently fled in an SUV, driven by an alleged female co-conspirator, with possessions belonging to the victims.
Detectives managed to identify the suspect's vehicle by reviewing surveillance footage from the location of the crash. On November 19, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department located the SUV and took three individuals into custody. Burbank PD's news release reports that the search of the vehicle unearthed clothing and the stolen items from the Burbank robbery, along with other suspected stolen property.
Authorities identified the suspects as Brenda Ramirez Ohlmann, 31, from Rhode Island, and New York residents Victor Gabriel Correa De Los Santos, 31, and Manuel Milciades Felipe Medina, 33. They were all booked for robbery and are facing charges, which include one count of 211 PC and one count of 182/211 PC. The Burbank Police Department noted in their statement an appreciation for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department – Walnut Station for their aid during the investigation.
For any further inquiries, the Burbank Police Department has directed questions towards Lieutenant Brent Fekety. The case continues to be under scrutiny as more details emerge and the suspects await further legal proceedings.
