Residents and commuters in Janesville should be ready for a change in their Friday traffic patterns as Mineral Point Avenue is set to shut down between N. Crosby Ave. and N. Grant Ave. for utility work. According to the City of Janesville's announcement, the closure will take place today from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., redirecting traffic to use Crosby Ave, Elizabeth St, and Grant Ave as a detour during these hours.
The Janesville Transit will adjust its Route 4: W. Court St. to accommodate the closure, rerouting from S. Crosby Ave. by turning right on Bond Pl., then left on N. Grant St., and finally right on Mineral Pt. Ave. to resume its regular path, the detour will allow for the roadwork to take place while minimizing impact on travelers though some bus stops will be out of service for the duration, travelers can expect minor inconveniences despite the city's efforts to provide alternatives, such as the temporary bus stop that will be established on the SE corner of N. Grant St. and Mineral Pt. Ave.
For those who rely on public transportation, it is important to note that the bus stops, including the #138 on Mineral Pt just east of Mineral Pt./N. Crosby Ave., located on the north end of Franklin, MS, and #318 on the SW corner of N. Grant St. and Mineral Pt. Ave., will be closed, as per the City of Janesville.
School Special Routes should remain unaffected by the closure and the associated detour, since they do not run during the hours when the roadwork is scheduled, this means that students and parents can breathe easy knowing that school transport should run on its normal schedule, the changes are temporary and are put in place to ensure that the necessary utility work can be completed efficiently and safely.
