Destrehan residents and commuters are facing multiple road closures and construction projects that are impacting daily travel throughout the area. According to recent updates by St. Charles Parish Government, Jonathan Street will remain closed for an unspecified duration, urging drivers to seek alternate routes, such as Bunge’s heavy haul road, for accessing Noel Street to bypass Lorraine Street.
Further disruptions include the obstruction of Ormond Center Court, stretching from Reginelli's to Buddy's Frostop, due to ongoing road construction. A detour is in place to facilitate vehicle traffic in the area, though this could still slightly delay commutes. Voodoo Construction is also adding to the local traffic hindrance. They are set to pour concrete along Villere Dr. between the hours of 9 AM and 11 AM today, assuredly causing delays, although emergency units and vehicles will still be permitted to pass.
There are significant updates concerning LA 628 (CC Road), where an extensive roadwork project necessitates a continuous full closure that began on August 4 and is expected to last until November 21, as part of the Montz Pump Station Permit Project. Motorists are advised to follow detour signs routing through US 61, LA 3217, or LA 628 (River Rd), as per the St. Charles Parish Government.
On Westbound & Eastbound LA 18 (River Rd), drivers should anticipate recurring closures starting from November 10 through November 21 to accommodate the installation of an overhead pipe bridge. The detours will lead travelers towards LA 3127 or US 90. LA 3127 itself is experiencing intermittent and alternating lane closures that started on Monday, with construction anticipated to continue for a full year until October 30, 2026, restricting oversized loads to a maximum width of 12 feet.
For detailed detour information, St. Charles Parish Government advises Eastbound motorists on LA 3127 to redirect via LA 3213 north to LA 641, then north to I-10, east to I-310, and then south to return to LA 3127. Westbound traffic is recommended to take I-310 north to I-10, west to LA 641, south to LA 3213, then south to reconnect with LA 3127.
