Quik Dog, the pandemic-era pop-up from Trick Dog owner Josh Harris and partner Nick Amano-Dolan, is going brick-and-mortar on Tuesday in Mission Rock. The 4,133-square-foot space at 1023 Third St. sits just across the Third Street Bridge from Oracle Park and splits the difference between a quick-service diner and a full bar. Expect Trick Dog's greatest hits, a kale salad, a rectangular burger, and a deconstructed Mission dog, alongside diner staples like grilled cheese, tomato soup, garlic fries, and milkshakes made with Mitchell's Ice Cream.
A Pop-Up Grows Up
Born as a takeout operation inside Trick Dog during the pandemic, Quik Dog steadily built a following that pushed the team to secure a permanent home. Hoodline first highlighted the Mission Rock move in 2023, while Tablehopper tracked the pop-up menus that helped the concept take hold.
Where It Sits
Quik Dog lands in a 4,133-square-foot unit at The Canyon fronting China Basin Park and facing the ballpark, a short stroll from Oracle Park. Per CityBiz, Mission Rock Partners and Bon Vivants Hospitality inked the retail lease for the corner of Third Street and China Basin Park, with the site meant to serve both neighborhood regulars and game-day crowds.
Menu And Drinks
The permanent menu features Trick Dog signatures, including the Kale Salad, the Quik Dog burger, and a Mission-style hot dog, along with diner comforts like grilled cheese, tomato soup, garlic fries, and milkshakes made with Mitchell's Ice Cream. To keep things moving, many cocktails are pre-mixed and poured on tap, with originals like the Super Paloma alongside simple highballs and classics. As Amano-Dolan told SFGATE, "We actually like to joke that Quik Dog will have two opening days."
Trick Dog's Pedigree
Trick Dog's national profile helped the team secure a prime Mission Rock address, the bar has garnered industry honors and earned a Food & Wine top-10 nod this year. KTVU highlighted the Food & Wine ranking and Trick Dog's long run of awards, which set high expectations for the new spot. The owners say Quik Dog aims to marry Harris' diner memories with Trick Dog's cocktail chops.
Who's Cooking
Chef Gonzalo Guerrero will lead the kitchen; he trained with Craig Stoll at Delfina, worked with Ivan Orkin in New York, and cooked with Francis Mallmann in Argentina, SFGATE reports. A Bay Area native and San Francisco City College alum, Guerrero is expected to prioritize speed and consistency while applying technique to scaled-up diner fare.
Expect lines on game days as the crew dials in timing and service in the early going. Quik Dog's site and social channels will post menus, hours, and updates as the restaurant settles in.
