
A Tulsa man was arrested after he allegedly stole a lawnmower and assaulted a woman in a series of events that unfolded in broad daylight. The Tulsa Police Department detailed the incident in a social media post, calling the suspect the "Lawn Mower Bandit."
The alleged theft occurred near 500 S. 89th E. Ave. on Tuesday. The victim reported that she was expecting someone to pick up her mower for repairs when the accused, Charles Chapman, appeared, seemingly to claim it for scrap. When she confronted Chapman, he slapped her and proceeded to load the mower onto his trailer. In a desperate attempt to retrieve her property, the victim got into her car and tried to follow Chapman. It's reported that during the pursuit, Chapman struck her vehicle and continued fleeing.
Eventually, authorities caught up with Chapman near 7500 E. 11th St. and took him into custody. The list of charges against Chapman includes Hit-and-Run Involving Damage to a Vehicle, No Insurance, Grand Larceny, Assault With Intent to Commit Felony, and No License, as announced by the Tulsa Police Department. While Chapman has been arrested, it's important to note that these are accusations and he has not been convicted of any crimes.
Tulsa Police responded quickly after the victim reported the incident. According to authorities, Chapman is accused of stealing a lawnmower and displaying aggressive behavior toward the victim, which later led to a road-related incident. Police confirmed that Chapman was taken into custody, and the case is now moving forward through the court system.
