
Two individuals are now in police custody, with a third suspect at large, after a chaotic scene unfolded in Pittsburgh, involving gunfire and a subsequent vehicular crash into a residence. Pittsburgh Public Safety officials reported a 15-round ShotSpotter alert near the 400 block of Chester Avenue shortly before 8:30 p.m. yesterday, as per WPXI.
The crisis escalated quickly, officers in the vicinity noticed a fleeing vehicle and though attempts were made to execute a traffic stop, the driver pressed on leading to a loss of control further down in the 1900 block of North Charles Street where the vehicle made its violent introduction with the front of a home, "One man attempted to flee on foot before the crash while two others tried to flee after the crash," according to official statements.
As the aftermath settled, two suspects were apprehended; however, the search for the third continues. WTAE reported that all three individuals attempted to flee the scene after the collision.
Throughout Chester Avenue, investigators discovered scattered shell casings, punctuating the severity of the incident. The investigation into the motives and circumstances surrounding the tumultuous events is actively moving forward, with law enforcement not yet publicly speculating about the connection between the shots fired and the subsequent chase and crash.
