Tragedy struck Butler County yesterday afternoon, with a violent multi-vehicle collision that claimed two lives and injured another. At approximately 2:49 p.m., emergency services were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of South Pike Road (Route 356) and Younkins Road in Buffalo Township. The Buffalo Township Police Department was quickly on the scene to assess the damage and aid the victims.
According to WPXI, the incident involved three vehicles with a total of five individuals caught in the chaos. Tragically, a woman was pronounced dead directly on the scene. A man, believed to have been in the same vehicle as the deceased woman, had to be extricated from the wreckage by first responders. He was urgently flown to a hospital with serious injuries but later succumbed, bringing the death toll to two. The intersection was subsequently closed down to traffic for numerous hours following the crash as investigations commenced and the debris was cleared.
Additional information from a CBS News report noted that among the other passengers involved in the calamitous event, a woman was also injured and taken by ambulance to a hospital. Meanwhile, two people in the third vehicle involved reportedly were shaken up but not physically hurt in the incident. The identities of the individuals who perished in the accident were not released immediately following the events yesterday.
