Tragedy struck Apopka last night when two individuals lost their lives in a vehicular collision, while two teenagers suffered severe injuries. This incident, occurring after 6 p.m., took place on Rock Springs Road near the intersection with Alexandria Place Drive. According to reports by ClickOrlando, a Ford Mustang driven by an 18-year-old from Apopka collided with a Ford E350 as the latter attempted a turn onto Alexandria Place Drive.
Detailed in a Florida Highway Patrol crash report and corroborated by WESH, the Mustang, considerably exceeding the speed limit, approached the intersection just as the Ford E350, steered by a 63-year-old Orlando man, was executing a left turn. The Mustang, carrying a 17-year-old boy, struck the right side of the van, leading to the grievous outcome of the accident.
The force of the impact resulted in the deaths of two passengers in the Ford E350, as per authorities. An Apopka man aged 81 and a 94-year-old Apopka woman, both secured by seatbelts at the time of the collision, were pronounced deceased following the event. The elderly man was declared dead at the scene, while the woman succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a hospital.
