
A violent altercation at Great Savings, a discount store in Jamaica, Queens, escalated when an irate customer shot two employees on Saturday evening. ABC7 New York reports that the incident occurred just after 5 p.m., with one victim, a 34-year-old worker, sustaining a critical chest wound and another, 55, injured in the leg.
After leaving the scene briefly, the customer returned to the location at 148-18 Jamaica Avenue and opened fire, as detailed by police. The suspect, described as approximately 6 feet tall and dressed in gray sweatpants and a green sweater, is still at large. According to a statement obtained by PIX11, the authorities received a 911 call about the shooting at around 5:08 p.m., and both store employees were swiftly transported to an area hospital.
The victims' conditions have sparked community concern. A 34-year-old is currently listed in critical condition, while the 55-year-old's injuries, though serious, are considered stable. This senseless act of violence has left the Queens community on edge as the perpetrator remains free.
