Tragedy struck the streets of west Houston on a grim Friday morning, as two separate incidents claimed the lives of pedestrians at different locations along Westheimer Road, a bustling area known for its shopping and business activity. The first accident occurred at the corner of Westheimer and Gessner Road where, according to a witness speaking to KHOU 11, a woman was struck by a white truck as she attempted to cross the street, not at a crosswalk, and carrying multiple bags after disembarking a city bus.
A witness said that after the first crash, he tried to help the woman but had to jump out of the way when a black sedan drove through the scene, hitting her again. Police have not yet confirmed whether this second car was involved. The driver of the white truck stayed at the scene and told police what happened, but there is no information about the sedan or its driver, as per KHOU.
Not far from this scene, another pedestrian met with a fatal destiny along the expansive stretch of Westheimer Road, this time outside 9501 Westheimer, as reported by ABC13. The Houston Police Department stated that the man died upon impact at approximately 6:25 a.m., they released scant details save for the confirmation that the involved vehicle did not flee following the sad incident.
