A head-on collision on Highway 20 in Grass Valley killed two semitruck drivers. The accident occurred around 10:55 a.m. near Brighton Street, shutting down the highway in both directions for several hours, ABC 10 reported. Fog and weather were not contributing factors, and the crash remains under investigation.
The collision also involved a Toyota Tacoma, struck by one of the semitrucks. The Tacoma’s driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Both semitruck drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, and the highway remained closed for an extended period while crews cleared debris. Drivers were advised to use alternate routes.
KCRA reported that one of the semitrucks was traveling eastbound when it veered into the westbound lanes, though the cause is still under investigation. The identities of the two deceased truck drivers have not been released pending family notification. The California Highway Patrol confirmed that Highway 20 reopened around 7:30 p.m. after crews cleared the scene and ensured the road was safe for travel.
