Sacramento State started the season with a perfect record and back-to-back sellouts, but coach Mike Bibby was not satisfied after the game against Division II Jessup University. "Very disappointed," Bibby said, noting the team needs to improve on basic skills. He added, "Until we stop being ‘me, me, me,’ we’re not going to be a good team," emphasizing the need for better teamwork and defensive focus, as reported by The Sacramento Bee.
Last Tuesday, the Hornets, coached by Bibby, played against UCSB. Key players for Sac State included Jeremiah "Bear" Cherry, Mikey Williams, Jayden Teat, and Prophet Brown. Cherry, who had 15 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocked shots against Jessup, said, "He's holding us to a high standard." Bibby said about team play, "Until we get in that mindset of playing together, working together, it’s not going to be good. We go back to old habits," as per The Sacramento Bee.
