Green-thumbed students at the University of Cincinnati have crafted a sustainability map that highlights the array of eco-friendly features scattered across the Clifton West campus. It's an initiative born out of an environmental inquiry course, with the aim of turning over the leaves of sustainability efforts that have, until now, remained tucked away in the university's shadow. According to UC News, the project seeks to shine a light on the work done to preserve the campus’s environmental integrity.
Despite the increasing number of green fixtures on the campus grounds, their presence has slipped beneath the radar of daily campus life. "We noticed that less was known about sustainability features on campus, including the things that the sustainability office was doing," explained Laura Zanotti, professor and director of UC's School of Environment and Sustainability, in a statement obtained by UC News. This obscurity spawned the creation of an interactive map that details everything from solar panels to community gardens, embodying the environmental consciousness that the university strives towards.
