An Upper Peninsula man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies after a tip received in April led to investigations by the Michigan State Police (MSP) into long-standing sexual abuse allegations involving children. According to reports by ClickOnDetroit, 75-year-old Gerard Malkowski is accused of providing minors with alcohol, marijuana, and cigarettes before allegedly committing sexual assaults.
The accused predator, who hails from DeTour Township, about 40 miles south of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged after police seized digital evidence and a firearm from his home. Malkowski is now behind bars on a $1 million bond, while Michigan State Police suggest the disturbing possibility that additional victims have yet to come forward. In a social media post, the MSP Eighth District detailed the arrest, relaying that Malkowski now faces four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct along with a single count of felon in possession of a firearm, he was arrested following the issuing of felony warrants in connection with the investigations, Gerard Malkowski has been held in the Chippewa County Jail since his October 29 apprehension at his residence in DeTour Village.
Authorities began the investigation into Malkowski's alleged actions following a tip to the Michigan State Police in April 2025, according to a post by the MSP Eighth District. The initial tip detailed potential sexual abuse dating back to 2009, but further inquiries led to the discovery of additional allegations tracing as far back as 2005.
