In a spectacular display of offensive firepower, the Utah Jazz dropped an eye-opening 152 points against the Indiana Pacers, marking the franchise's fourth-highest score ever and the highest in an NBA game this season, according to ABC4. Reuters added the historical context, noting that the Jazz have only topped this total twice before, with a 154-point outing against Sacramento in April 2021, and again in overtime against Detroit in January 2024, plus a 153 score as the New Orleans Jazz in April 1978.
Lauri Markkanen led the scoring blitz with 35 points with Svi Mykhailiuk and rookie Ace Bailey each contributing 20, in a game where eight Jazz players netted double-figure scores, the victory snapping a four-game losing streak for Utah and further piling misery on the Pacers who fell to a 1-10 record for the season, the Pacers started strong, the first ten points of the game exploding in their favor but then Utah quickly regained composure and led by the end of the first quarter as they never looked back, according to KSL Sports.
Isaiah Collier played a key role off the bench, with his 14 points and 11 assists cited by KSL Sports as a stabilizing force for the Jazz, contributing to the team's 38 assists. The Pacers' coach, Rick Carlisle, used every one of his timeouts in attempts to halt Utah's momentum to no avail. Meanwhile, second-year player Cody Williams, who has seen limited action so far, made contributions especially on the defensive side of the ball, Jazz coach Hardy highlighting that Williams' understanding of defensive play is showing, although his offensive play is something he's keeping "really simple", according to the same KSL Sports.
The Pacers, however, did see some individual triumphs, with Pascal Siakam scoring 27 and Aaron Nesmith returning from an absence to contribute 17 points. T.J. McConnell, who also just returned from injury, managed 12 points in 11 minutes as he's still easing back into full play, as reported by Reuters. The Pacers' early lead soon collapsed, and their defensive voids allowed the Jazz easy drives to the hoop and the luxury of passing to unguarded shooters, resulting in Utah's massive point tally.
