The Utah Volleyball team faced off in another intense rivalry match against No. 24 BYU but couldn't quite seal the deal, ultimately falling to the Cougars in a nail-biter 3-2 on their home turf at Smith Fieldhouse. Despite setting new individual and team ace records, the Utes' efforts were not quite enough to clinch the win after gruelling five sets plagued with tension and excitement, according to UtahUtes.com.

Senior middle blocker Emrie Moea'i became the night's record-smashing star despite the loss, hurling her eighth ace of the match and ascending to the top of the Utah record books. She broke the records for most service aces by an individual in a five-set match during the rally era (2001-present) and for a single match across all sets in the same era, "setting a career-high for herself," as UtahUtes.com reported. The team overall aced the game, with 13 total aces beating the previous record of 11, which was set against Temple back in September of 2018.

The match saw its fair share of ups and downs as both teams grappled for dominance. The Cougars narrowly won sets one, three, and five (23-25, 23-25, 10-15), while the Utes showed their strength in sets two and four (25-17, 25-15). Moea'i not only led her team in aces but also contributed 11 kills, one dig, and three blocks. Kamryn Gibadlo made a significant impact as well, leading the team with 22 kills and a .333 hitting percentage, complemented by nine digs and two blocks. Levani Key-Powell and Neea-Maria Joki also made crucial contributions, the former second in aces and the latter's overall potency adding to the team's aggressive performance.
