A routine patrol morphed into a significant bust last Monday, when Vallejo Police Department officers pulled over a gray Honda Accord. According to a social media post by the Vallejo Police Department, at around 9:10 PM, the car was spotted cruising without license plates down Sutter Street.
Upon detention of the vehicle in the 600 block of Indiana Street, the man at the wheel, whose license was found to be suspended, was immediately ensnared by the long arm of the law. The driver, already on the hook for probation in Solano County, was no stranger to the system, with a prior for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Vallejo Police conducted a probation compliance search, which is standard protocol for individuals under such legal constraints. It was during this search that officers discovered a backpack containing more than just typical personal belongings.
Inside the backpack, officers discovered a loaded firearm and roughly 18 grams of methamphetamine. Scouring through records, it became clear that the firearm was not just any piece of metal; it was reported stolen from Oakley. This find prompted the driver's arrest, and he was booked into Solano County Jail.
Charges against the driver piled high, as the felonies of possessing a stolen firearm and controlled substance added weight to his criminal record. In the aftermath, his gray Honda Accord was towed, and all items, including the firearm and narcotics, were removed.
