An officer-involved shooting that unfolded following a high-speed pursuit spanning several counties is currently under investigation by the 10th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team. The incident, which started with a vehicle theft in El Paso County and concluded in a field in Pueblo West, resulted in the injury of one individual. According to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, no law enforcement officers sustained injuries during the event.

The situation commenced around 3:30 p.m. in Monument after police were alerted to the theft of a 2025 Chevrolet Silvardo truck. Utilizing the satellite-based OnStar system, officers were able to rapidly locate and tail the vehicle down Interstate 25 into Pueblo County. An array of law enforcement agencies, including Monument Police, Colorado Springs Police, the Colorado State Patrol, and Fountain Police, were involved in the collaborative effort to apprehend the suspect, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office reported.

The pursuit escalated as a State Patrol aircraft located the truck south of Colorado Springs, keeping track of its movement towards Pueblo County. Colorado State Patrol troopers attempted to halt the truck near Mile Marker 110 using a grappling device. However, the suspect fired at least one shot from the vehicle, prompting a continued chase by the troopers, who were later joined by Pueblo County Sheriff's deputies. The suspect eventually drove off-road into a field near Purcell Blvd and Fairbanks Drive, where the vehicle came to a halt and the suspect fired additional shots.

A Monument Police officer, who had engaged in the pursuit from its inception, returned fire, resulting in the suspect sustaining injuries. Subsequently, emergency services, including Pueblo West Fire, administered medical aid, and the suspect was airlifted to a hospital in Colorado Springs for treatment. The 10th Judicial CIRT, which includes members from several local law enforcement agencies like the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the 10th Judicial District Attorney's Office, will be investigating the scene throughout the night. "No further information will be released at this time," as stated by the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office.
