
A Victorville transient has been taken into custody following the alleged murder of a 52-year-old woman found near a local homeless encampment. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department reported that deputies, alongside fire and medical personnel, responded to a call from Victor Valley Global Hospital at around 3:38 p.m. on Saturday, detailing an injured female near the establishment.
The informant, a homeless man later identified as 38-year-old Taureen Alden Sims, directed authorities to the victim, who displayed evident facial trauma and was discovered unresponsive close to the encampment south of Verde Road and east of Hesperia Road. According to the press release, the woman was promptly transported to St. Mary's hospital, where she was pronounced dead by the hospital staff.
Following the incident, the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division - Homicide Detail took over the investigation. As a result of their inquiry, Sims was arrested on a charge of murder under PC 187 and is being held at the High Desert Detention Center. Details regarding the exact circumstances and motive behind this tragic event are still being determined.
The authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim as they are awaiting notification of the next of kin.
