Residents in Wailuku who frequent the Coach Soichi Sakamoto Pool or have business with the County Department of Housing should be mindful of upcoming closures this December. The County Department of Parks and Recreation has scheduled a partial-day closure for the pool located at 700 Halia Nakoa St. to accommodate pool guard recruit testing. According to the County of Maui's recent civic alert, the facility will close on Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon, and will reopen to the public at noon that day.

Meanwhile, those hoping to visit the County Department of Housing office at 2065 Main St., Suite 108, will find the doors closed for a shorter window of time. In a statement from the same county announcement, officials stated that the office will halt its operations from 2 to 4 p.m. on Monday, in order to conduct an all-staff meeting. Services are expected to resume normal operations promptly at 4 p.m.

The temporary closures are a reminder for the community to plan ahead when intending to utilize county services or recreational facilities. While these interruptions are brief, they serve necessary administrative and operational functions that ensure Maui's public services and amenities continue to run smoothly.
