The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has announced a new mobile app, MyWDFW, which will be available for the 2026 license year. Designed to replace paper-based processes, the app is intended to simplify and streamline the experience for hunters and anglers in Washington.

“We’re committed to ensuring everyone finds belonging in the outdoors,” WDFW Director Kelly Susewind said in an official announcement. In addition to providing digital licenses, the app will improve the collection of real-time harvest data.

MyWDFW will be available as a free download on both Google Play and the Apple App Store. The app offers a range of features, including license purchases, viewing current license privileges, and electronic tagging for game species such as deer, elk, turkey, and black bear. It also allows users to submit harvest reports, many of which can be completed offline, making it useful in areas without cellular coverage.

Users selecting mobile licensing will have their valid mobile license products activated starting April 1, 2026. Holders of 2025 paper licenses will continue using their paper licenses through the end of the 2025 license year and can switch to mobile licensing for 2026. The transition moves from paper-based licenses to a digital format.

The app follows a public input phase in 2023, during which rules for electronic licensing and reporting were developed. Information on the app’s development and features is available on the WDFW website. MyWDFW joins other WDFW digital tools, such as the Fish Washington® app, with each designed to help users access the specific services they need.
