What police say
According to FOX 26 Houston, Houston police responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Westheimer Road and Royal Oaks Club Drive and found a man dead when they arrived. Officers told the station that three people in a car pulled over and surrendered to police, and the passengers said there had been a fight with the man before shots were fired.
Authorities believe at least one person inside the vehicle opened fire on the man, who then shot back. None of the people in the car were injured, police said.

The same stretch of Westheimer has been under scrutiny recently after a string of serious incidents that have concerned neighbors and commuters. A fatal auto-pedestrian crash along the corridor was also reported by Houston Chronicle, adding to ongoing safety concerns on the busy roadway.
