Trigger a false alarm and you could be looking at a $100 fine, a Facebook post from the City of Westlake, Ohio Police Department revealed. But don't think the fines stop there; they're set to increase with each subsequent offense. The police are pretty clear that they don't want to chase after phantom crimes when they could be doing real police work.
Zero violations, that's the department's aim with this new ordinance. So much so, they're offering the expert services of their crime prevention specialists to avoid these costly situations.
