A 20-year-old speed demon found themselves in handcuffs after the Westminster Police Department caught them doing 85 mph in a 35 mph zone, a move that ultimately had their ride towed and racked up a slew of charges. The incident, which unfolded near 84th Avenue and Clay Street, caught the attention of a #WPD traffic officer during a regular speed enforcement operation.
A social media post from the Westminster Police Department laid out the details of the arrest, where the young driver's excuses failed to impress the authorities. The list of charges includes 40+ mph, reckless driving, speed exhibition, obstruction, resisting arrest, and yes, his vehicle didn't escape the consequences either; it was towed from the scene.
"When you’re going double the speed limit, your excuses better be twice as good," the Westminster Police Department quipped in their post. "This 20-year-old’s were not." The department’s message serves as a blunt reminder of the risks and consequences associated with such high-speed antics on the road.
