A tragic incident took place on a bustling road in Orange County last night, resulting in the death of a 53-year-old woman from Winter Springs. As reported by ClickOrlando, the accident occurred around 6:20 p.m. near the intersection of Lee Road and Kingswood Drive, where the pedestrian was hit by a 2010 Ford Fusion.
Walking across Lee Road, the woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was struck by the westbound vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Despite being rushed to the hospital, her injuries proved fatal, and she was pronounced dead by medical personnel. The driver of the Ford Fusion, who was not hurt in the collision, cooperated with authorities and remained on the scene as the investigation unfolded.
The circumstances of the crash were further detailed by WESH, which clarified that the victim was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk when she entered the path of the car, driven by a 32-year-old man from Apopka. The force of the impact was such that it led to the immediate transportation of the woman to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
